Frequently Asked Questions concerning our MM Series Universal Microscope Adapters:

How many MM adapters have been sold? Since the MM99 was introduced in the fall of 1999 until the first of 2008 we have sold over 6,500 of these adapters!  Customers include universities from Florida to Hawaii and Alaska, NASA, and the Smithsonian Institution Museum of Natural History.
Do you take credit cards? Yes.  We accept VISA and MasterCard.
Do you accept purchase orders? Yes.  We accept purchase orders from government institutions and others with approved credit.
Do you accept international orders? Yes.  We normally require prepayment for our international customers.  We can ship to most countries via UPS Worldwide Express or DHL.  We do not normally export digital cameras; only MM Series adapters.
Can I order online? Not yet, orders should be phoned, faxed, mailed or e-mailed.  E-mail credit card orders should be divided into two or more emails for security.
Do you offer a quantity discount? If you're interested in buying 10 or more, contact us to discuss it.
Does Martin Microscope Company sell the cameras as well as the adapters? Yes.  We offer camera packages including the camera, adapter, and other useful accessories.   We try to keep a few of these packages in stock for our customers' convenience.
What is your return policy? We allow returns of MM adapters within 30 days for any reason and with no restocking fee.  We cannot allow returns of digital cameras, however.  Cameras are warrantied by their respective manufacturers.
I have a camera not listed in the camera chart.  Will one of these adapters work for me? Maybe, but no guarantee.  We've been told that certain other cameras will work with certain MM adapters, but without trying them ourselves, we can't recommend them.
Will one of these adapters work with my camcorder? We've found that the MM99 is compatible with many camcorders from Sony and others.  The requirements seem to be a 37mm filter thread (or adaptable to 37mm) and at least a 10x optical zoom lens.  We've seen it work with models from Canon, Sharp and JVC as well.
I want to use this camera / adapter in my microscope's phototube rather than in place of an eyepiece.  Can this be done? In most cases, yes.  However, an additional tube or a 1x C-mount adapter may be required.

I have a C-Mount already on my microscope.  Do the MM adapters work with a C-Mount? 1x C-Mount compatibility became standard on April 1, 2003 for no additional charge.  Only 1x C-Mount adapters are supported - 0.3x to 0.7x will not work.  (Update:  a 0.7x C-mount is recommended for certain DSLR/MM-SLR combinations.)
Can I use the MM adapters on my telescope? We now (Mar 2005) offer the MMT 1.25" adapter for telescopes.
How can vibrations derived from pressing the "shutter release" button be avoided? If a cable release or remote is available for the camera in question, this is obviously the solution.  For those cameras for which this is not available, try using the camera's self-timer.  This way you can press the button and let go, and the camera will take the picture in a few seconds.
