MM Series Digital Camera Adapters for Telescopes

We've been manufacturing and selling our MM Series digital camera adapters for select Sony and Nikon digital cameras for six years now, and on occasion we've been asked about their usefulness with telescopes.  Telescopes are not our area of expertise by any means, but adapting consumer digital cameras for use with microscopes certainly is.  So, while we had been told that our adapters work quite well with telescopes, we had not put them to the test until very recently.  We purchased a Meade LX90 LNT 8" astronomical telescope, set it up on the first clear night and tried it out.  While we still have much to learn about multiple exposures and stacking images, etc, our first outing with telescope and a couple of cameras with MM adapters proved quite successful.

So, we now proudly introduce the MMT Spacer to fit standard 1.25" telescopes, available for all MM adapters.  The MMT Spacer is threaded to accept standard 1.25" eyepiece filters.
MMT 1.25" Spacer:  $30.00

Our new Meade LX90 LNT 8" telescope set up in the driveway with a Sony Cybershot F717 camera and our MM99-58 adapter.  Despite street lights and a full moon, we got these pretty impressive shots of the Moon, the Orion Nebula, and Saturn on the very first night in a matter of minutes.  Wow - this is cool.

Image of the Moon above was made with a Nikon Coolpix 8800 and MM99-N800 adapter.
Orion Nebula image was made with a Sony Cybershot F717 and MM99-58 adapter.  Single 30 sec exposure.
Image of Saturn was made with the Nikon Coolpix 8800 and MM99-N800 adapter in manual exposure mode.
