REFLECTED LIGHT

REFLECTED LIGHT DIFFERENTIAL
INTERFERENCE CONTRAST (DIC) is an interference technique which
relies on Reflected Polarized illumination.
Like Transmitted Light DIC, Wollaston prisms modify the normal
extinction resulting from the crossed polarizers to create a 3D effect
of the specimen's surface. The DIC prisms are usually built in to
the nosepiece and can engaged or disengaged as needed.
